An announcement on the resignation of current BVOH Executive Director, Barbara Ockel
Thank You Barbara!!!!

Dear Friends and Community Partners,
As the seasons change, we, too, find ourselves on the cusp of transition as the Board of Directors announces the departure of our Executive Director, Barbara Ockel, effective March 31st. For the past 12 years, the Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theatre has been led by Barbara’s steadfast leadership. She leaves behind a legacy of persevering programs, pioneering building preservation, and passionate innovation that carried us through and out of the pandemic.
The members of the Board of Directors are dedicated to guiding and supporting our very accomplished staff through this transition and have asked me to oversee the management of this period as Acting Executive Director beginning in April. In addition, we will be conducting a search to find our new Executive Director over the next few months. We will be sharing the job announcement soon and ask for your help in identifying candidates.
If you have any questions or concerns during this transition process, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at dee@bvoh.org.  Again, we can not thank Barbara enough for the dedication with which she has faithfully served the Bayview Opera House. We look forward to following any endeavors she will pursue in the future and remain excited for the growth of our organization as we continue to support our community through the preservation of Black arts and culture in Bayview.
