The Unified Poetry Festival Finals is the culmination of a month-long poetry festival celebrating some of the most powerful youth voices in the Bay. It is happening in San Francisco at the Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theater at 6:00pm on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022. This year’s finals event will include performances by the highest scoring young artists in two of Youth Speaks’ most exciting annual competitions: the Unified Poetry Slam and MC Olympics! UNIFIED POETRY SLAM FINALS
What’s better than one youth poet? Four. Spitting a carefully choreographed poem. All at the same time. The Unified Slam is where the best youth poetry slam teams compete for a new sound system, bragging rights, and the chance to perform at a star-studded event at SF Jazz as part of Brave New Futures in July, 2022. MC OLYMPICS FINALS
MC Olympics is an olympic-style hip-hop competition featuring the best young emcees in the Bay. Emcees spit their best verses, freestyles, and complete songs through multiple rounds, where we highlight every emcee’s skills across styles and subgenres, from pen game to stage presence to originality. The highest scoring emcee will win $500 worth of prizes, giving them everything they need to record and release a new single, which they will perform at a star-studded event at SF Jazz as part of Brave New Futures in July, 2022.
